Pepsi Australia offers iPod an hour thru
July 11
06/01/2004 09:12 AM

Pepsi Australia is trying its hand at an Apple promotional tie-in, but instead of giving away iTunes Music Store songs like their American counterpart, they're giving away 15GB iPods -- one an hour every hour until midnight, July 11, 2004. Participants use Short Message Service (SMS), a feature on cell phones and other devices, to send in a unique code on the back of their label from participating Pepsi, Pepsi Max and Pepsi Light containers; Pepsi in turn notifies the winner by SMS. Winners are drawn hourly from that hour's entries. There's an additional chance to win, as well: All the entries received during the contest's entire duration will be pooled for a final drawing for one of 10 iPods on September 24, 2004.

ipod_newertech.jpg imageIf you're an iPod fanatic (you know who I'm talking about) you'd better have a sit-down. Xlr8yourmac recently reported that after they replaced their original iPod battery with one from Newertech they went from 4 hours to 21 hours of playtime. It cost them $40 and five minute's effort, (although this definitely voids the warranty). The $40 includes a tool set and installation guide, and if you tack on the coupon code 'HIGHROAD' when you check out you can get the NewerTech RoadTrip FM Transmitter device for only $9.99. Not bad, especially if you've got an older iPod (1st or 2nd gen) with a worn out battery.

Apple has announced that the iPod mini is finally going to be shipping internationally on July 24th. Worldwide demand has been at a fever pitch, but Apple has previously had trouble just providing enough units for the United States, let alone the rest of the world. HP Offers iPod Mini

HP Offers iPod Mini 06/06/2005 12:13 AM
HP has expanded its line of digital music players to include Apple's IPod Mini. The company said that the miniature player will be available from its Web site beginning Sunday, with the Apple IPod Mini from HP hitting major retailers shortly thereafter. HP's prices will be the same--$200 for a 4GB model, and $250 for a 6GB model.

HP's enormous retail distribution channel and emphasis on appealing to Windows-centric users may give the IPod Mini further penetration into the mass market. HP and Apple first announced a partnership more than a year ago, to bring IPods to HP's customers and make the devices available through HP's considerable retail distribution channels. HP also includes Apple's ITunes software pre-installed on all its PCs.
