ExpansionPack For GarageBand, is now shipping. It features 92
instruments -- including two accordions, 14 Hammond organs, two DX7
electric pianos, nine MiniMoogs, seven Wurlitzers and more -- that can
be added to GarageBand. A demo of sounds in MP3 format can be
downloaded from the AMG Web site, and "in a week or so" the company
expects to add five more instruments that ExpansionPack owners can
download and add to the set. Pricing is £30 (US$54).

Instruments on Wednesday revealed details about Kontakt 2, the
forthcoming release of their sampler software for Mac and Windows. The
factory library will include more than 15GB of samples and uses
"Kontakt Script Processor," (KSP) which adds advanced performance
effects. Kontakt 2 is coming at the end of March for US$579; upgrades
from Kontakt 1.x will cost $169. (Anyone who bought Kontakt 2 after
January 20, 2005 can upgrade for free.)
