1.5GHz
06/18/2004 03:24 AM
Giga Designs LLC on Thursday announced the G-celerator M7 Cube 1.5GHz -- a CPU upgrade aimed at Power Mac G4 Cubes. The new CPU upgrade uses the Motorola/Freescale Semiconductor-made 7457 processor, which consumes less power than previous G4 chips while supporting a 512KB Level 2 Cache, twice what was on the 1.3GHz model previously offered by Giga Designs. Also new to this upgrade is a multi-voltage power sharing architecture, which can be used to customize performance settings. Giga said the new board will ship this month for US$599; a 1.4GHz model is also expected to be available for $499. The G-celerator M7 Cube requires Mac OS X v10.2.8 for installation but is dual-boot compatible with Mac OS 9 also. Giga Designs' Web site had not yet been updated with a new product page as MacCentral posted this article.
