When it comes to cases, you have a number of equations to consider. First and foremost there is the ratio of usefulness to fashion. Plotted on an X/Y graph, we can place many cases into one of four quadrants. While a burlap sack would score high on the usefulness scale, it would score poorly on the fashion, thereby placing it in the "Crappy but Cheap" quadrant. A skinned sewer rat, still slightly fresh, would score poorly on both scales and would end up in the "Wha?" quadrant. I would place this leather PSP high on fashion and low on usefulness, depending on your personal sense of style. Let's call it the "Lindsay Lohan" quadrant.

The Vaja case aka the Console Suit, is an applied leather hard case that conforms perfectly to the PSP. The resulting amalgamation of dead cow and portable electronics costs $180 and allows the well-dressed fan of 1.5 firmware to match their shoulder bag, shoes, and game gear.

Is it just me, or does this Vaja HA42 case sort of make the Treo 600 look like Batman? For $55, the leather custom casing is not a bad way of keeping your smartphone in crime fighting shape. And like the Dark Knight himself, it has ample secret compartments for storing all your special gear (as long as that gear is a couple of SD cards and some money). Apple finally went and released an inexpensive computer. With the advent of the Mac mini, some Windows and Linux users who have been curious about Mac OS X but turned off by Apple's high prices have finally bit the bullet and ordered a mini.

Trying an unfamiliar operating system can be irritating at times. Things are not where you expect them to be, the GUI is different, and connecting to servers and other PCs can be frustrating. Hence the mini-guide.

This is not intended to be a comprehensive guide to all things OS X. Its purpose is to help those new to the operating system do simple things, like use a Windows printer, connect to a network share, and figure out what the key with the funny-looking squiggle on it next to the spacebar does (or even use your PC keyboard with a Mac). So if you're an "adder" and are feeling a bit out of sorts, check out our guide.

As eagle-eyed reader Thomas Shebest pointed out to me, it looks as if Apple has removed the Mini (car) from its BMWYourIpod page. Either the Mini isn't supported any longer, or, more likely, someone within BMW's marketing department didn't want to dillute the Beemer brand with their low-end cousin. Whichever -- it's still been removed from the site.

I guess Apple got tired on waiting for IpodYourBMW.com to go live, so they released the information on their web site today -- the same information we broke a few days ago. Something we hadn't heard, though, is that in addition to all the BMWs, the system will be supported by the Mini. So yes, you could conceivably have a Mini in your Mini.

If the Mac mini is going to work as a commodity PC, it needs to be sold in commodity stores. That's probably the only real reason that the announcement that Best Buy is going to sell the Mac mini is notable at all (although it'd be even more notable if, say, Wal-Mart got on board). Well it took almost two months, and I had to send them several support requests since my account was put on hold for a while (supposedly for spamming my referral link), but today my free Mac mini finally arrived :-) Unfortunately, plugging in "your existing keyboard, mouse and monitor" wasn't that easy as my PC didn't come with a USB...
