If you're reading this, you've no doubt noticed--unless you're using one of those new-fangled RSS reader things--the change in appearance here at raelity bytes. There's a new, uncluttered, I-think-gentle look to it, devoid of the over-accumulation of buttons and text you've come to expect ;-) at raelity bytes.

Beneath the covers, the site's built entirely on and powered by Blosxom using nothing but what comes on board and the power of a selection of user-contributed plugins in interesting and useful combinations. For those interested, here are some of the niggly-nagglies...

  • breadcru mbs displays that attractive navigational aid (e.g. home :: reading.html) at the top of each page
  • config affords all-but-infinite combinations of configuration and plugin activation throughout the site
  • file brings in components like the toolbar and writeback form
  • interpolate_fancy, as its name implies, does some fancy template footwork, altering what appears or doesn't appear on any particular page (e.g. writebacks only on permalinked individual item pages)
  • meta means I have the ability to tag particular entries with meta tags for use in my templates when appropriate (e.g. meta-image associates an image with a story, meta-rating rates books, movies, and whatnot, etc)
  • theme collects components (flavour bits, images, stylesheets, you-name-it) into a nice package for thematically altering the site on a whim
  • wikieditish means I can edit anything on the site through a browser-based form if I feel so inclined
  • wikiwordish means never having to remember where things are ;-)
  • writeback functionality invites you, gentle reader, to join the discussion

Sometimes its actually fun to eat your own dog-food.

I've started transmitting snaps taken with my shiny new Nokia 6230 and 7610 to Flickr. While I don't promise any more of an ongoing stream than you've come to expect (or not) from my blog, but things'll certainly be more active this weekend as I'm at FOO Camp 04.
