High Tech Patient Care
High Tech Patient Care
06/08/2004 10:47 AMUSATODAY.com - In the hospital of the future, patients are
pampered guests: This article on a new, high-tech hospital in
Denver has some interesting notes.
Computerized patient records help prevent deadly medication errors.
Embedded nanotechnology chips track everything from drugs to newborn
infants. If an infant is carried outside of a secured area, alarms
sound, and the hospital immediately is locked down to prevent a
kidnapping.
Computers also are used to limit the time people spend in the
waiting areas, which have stunning views of the snow-capped Rocky
Mountains. A confirmation of the appointment is e-mailed to the
patient the day before an exam or procedure. A patient who prints out
the reminder can run a bar code on the page under a laser scanner near
the hospital's front door to check in. The staff sees this on a
computer screen and prepares to greet the patient heading toward the
waiting area.
By evening, the patient gets an e-mail from Brimhall asking how the
visit went and whether the patient had to wait. Each case in which
there was a delay is sent back to the department, which must explain
the delay to Brimhall. He reports back to the patient.

Software Holds Potential to Save Lives
and Improve Patient Care Worldwide
01/22/2004 02:12 AMNearly 100,000 people die in U.S. hospitals each year due to
diagnostic errors, according to the Agency for Healthcare Research and
Quality. After his friend's 21-year-old son died in an emergency room
as a result of a misdiagnosis, Michigan pharmacologist Dr. Joel C.
Robertson resolved to create a technology product that might prevent
similar tragedies by helping doctors to more quickly and accurately
assess a patient's condition.

System Propels Growth - Now the #1
Online Racing Classified Ad Site
09/10/2004 04:00 AMThe results are in. RacingJunk.com, the free classified site that
focuses exclusively on the needs of the racing community, is by far
the top destination for racers and racing fans. The site, which has
captured the hearts of performance racing enthusiasts in the U.S. and
abroad, has seen phenomenal growth this past year. The winning formula
behind this incomparable success is its Honor Payment system.
According to Rob Adams, Director of Sales and Marketing for
RacingJunk, “The big thing is you don’t have to pay until you sell and
unlike other online sites, you only pay if the service worked for you.
The honor system keeps this community growing. In one short year,
August 2003-04, RacingJunk.com grew from 13,000 to 46,000 members with
20,000 visitors a day, 600,000 a month and 14,000,000 monthly page
views. Our site has 10,000+ ads with an average value of 250 million
dollars daily —and those figures are steadily increasing,” he added.
