xterm patch #200 (Default branch) 02/07/2005 01:16 AM
The xterm program is the standard terminal emulator for the X Window System. It provides DEC VT102/VT220 and Tektronix 4014 compatible terminals for programs that can't use the window system directly. If the underlying operating system supports terminal resizing capabilities (for example, the SIGWINCH signal in systems derived from 4.3bsd), xterm will use the facilities to notify programs running in the window whenever it is resized.
Changes:
The configure script has been improved to allow building on most platforms without imake. Some minor feature enhancements, e.g. new resource settings and configure options. Many small bugfixes.

Launch X11 xterm windows from anywhere

Launch X11 xterm windows from anywhere 03/08/2004 11:18 PM
I prefer to use the xterm that comes with X11 over Apple's Terminal. However, launching a new xterm window can be a pain when X11 isn't the current active app. I wrote the following AppleScript which starts X11, if it isn't...

Never noticed this before 10.3, but if you press Control and left click in an xterm window in Apple's X11, you get the xterm Main Options menu. Kind of obvious, but didn't see it on the site.

Delayed patch ends Microsoft's
patch-free month early
12/11/2003 12:02 PM
A glitch in Microsoft's Windows Update automated patching service caused a security fix that was released last month to be delivered to computer users on Tuesday, the same day Microsoft proclaimed December would be a patch-free month. The software patch fixes a serious vulnerability in a set of Web site management tools called FrontPage Server Extensions, which are part of Microsoft's Windows 2000, Windows XP and Office XP software, according to Microsoft Security Bulletin MS03-051 released Nov. 11. Exploiting the flaw could allow an attacker to gain control over a user's PC, Microsoft said.

Patch Day

Patch Day 04/13/2004 11:35 PM

Today is a big patch day for Windows users.  Microsoft released many patches, mostly critical, today.  If you have auto-update turned on, you probably have them downloaded and ready to install.  If not, Windows Update site is overloaded so it will take a while to get them.  If there aren't any updates, try again when the site is not so busy because network timeout seems to be interpreted optimistically by Windows Update scanner.  I installed 4 patches on Windows Server 2003 and 5 patches on XP.  On top of all that, I installed a script debugger patch from Office Update.  Damn those 17-inch PowerBooks are looking good today.

First patch

First patch 02/10/2004 02:45 AM

Andrew Grumet: This patch catches 404 Not Found errors and inserts them into the standard error handling flow, which until now was just dealing with parser-generated errors.

This patch has been applied on feeds.archive.org.  ; If all goes as planned, this will automatically propagate to ato menabled.org and feedvalidator.org in a matter of hours.  Sourceforge propates all changes to the anonymous cvs servers every 5 hours.
