Retrieval by Oren Kurland and Lillian Leehttp:
//eprints.osti.gov/cgi-bin/dexpldcgi?qry1131250613;1Abstract by Authors:
Most previous work on the recently
developed language-modeling approach to information retrieval focuses
on document-specific characteristics, and therefore does not take into
account the structure of the surrounding corpus. We propose a novel
algorithmic framework in which information provided by document-based
language models is enhanced by the incorporation of information drawn
from clusters of similar documents. Using this framework, we develop a
suite of new algorithms. Even the simplest typically outperforms the
standard language-modeling approach in precision and recall, and our
new interpolation algorithm posts statistically significant
improvements for both metrics over all three corpora tested.

want to program images, animation, and sound. It is used by students,
artists, designers, architects, researchers, and hobbyists for
learning, prototyping, and production. It is created to teach
fundamentals of computer programming within a visual context and to
serve as a software sketchbook and professional production tool.
Processing is developed by artists and designers as an open-source

dfAbstract by Authors:For
efficient, large scale data mining of publicly available information
about libre (free, open source) software projects, automating the
retrieval and analysis processes is a must. A system implementing such
automation must have into account the many kinds of repositories with
interesting information (each with its own structure and access
methods), and the many kinds of analysis which can be applied to the
retrieved data. In addition, such a system should be capable of
interfacing and reusing as much existing software for both retrieving
and analyzing data as possible. As a proof of concept of how that
system could be, we started sometime ago to implement the GlueTheos
system, featuring a modular, flexible architecture which has been
already used in several of our studies of libre software projects. In
this paper we show its structure, how it can be used, and how it can
be extended.

11/07/2003 05:28 AMA Guide to Institutional Repository Softwarehttp://www.soros.org/
openaccess/software/Universities and research centers
throughout the world are actively planning the implementation of
institutional repositories. Such planning entails policy, legal,
educational, cultural, and technical components, most of which are
interrelated and each of which must be satisfactorily addressed for
the repository to succeed.
The Open Society Institute
intends this document to help organizations with one facet of their
repository planning: selecting a software system that best satisfies
an institution's needs. An institution's system needs will be driven
by its content policies and by the procedures required to implement
those policies. A well designed and carefully planned repository
program can function well with any of the systems discussed here-but
none of these systems can help a poorly designed or inadequately
planned repository succeed. Therefore, where necessary, the notes to
the
System Feature & Functionality Table (Section
2.2) attempt to explain the relevance of system technical features
in the context of a repository's broader planning, design, and policy
framework
