Microsoft Suing More Spammers 06/11/2004 03:43 AM
A few months after filing lawsuits against a bunch of spammers, Microsoft has kept up the pressure, filing another set of lawsuits against more spammers. The article estimates that they've now sued about 200 spammers - though, they still don't know who many of them are. At this point, they're just filing John Doe cases, and hoping to find out who they are at a later date.

It looks like the various spam laws that help legalize spam are making the spammers extra litigious. Following a lawsuit in the US by a spammer against an anti-spam operation for still block their email, some spammers in the UK are threatening Spamhaus with lawsuits for still having them on their blacklist. The problem is that, just because the law now gives them the permission to spam, it doesn't mean people aren't allowed to make their own private efforts to block them. The laws may allow them to send their spam, but there's nothing in these laws that require people to receive it.

Mr. Smarty Pants 02/18/2004 12:04 PM
It's common for pregnant women to dream they've given birth to an animal. According to a report by the New York Post, Winston Churchill's parrot is still alive. Charlie, a 104-year-old blue and gold female macaw, lives in southeast England and likes to curse Hitler. In the first century, Pliny the Elder claimed that mustard would improve lazy housewives. All of these "facts" and more can be found in the Mr. Smarty Pants Archive.

Okay, things have been way too friggin' crazy lately. It's time to take off my trousers and celebrate a long-overdue, pointless, pantless day. Yes, No Pants Friday is in full effect. If you don't join me, I'm sending Sprocket to your house to hump your leg. Should I go as far as to prove it to the world? Well, so as not to drive traffic away immediately, check out my iSight by clicking the regular cam thumbnail over there in the sidebar. Let your hair down and just enjoy my tighty whities for a few minutes. But not for too long because... well, that's just freaky, dude....

After meeting the author of 'Atlantis, Alien Visitation and Genetic Manipulation' (and subsequently reading it), I've embarked on an intellectual journey that's been... strange, to say the least. As noted in a recent post, I've been diving into similar writings that explore the idea that humans are actually extraterrestrial hybrids. Before you dismiss the idea outright, you might care to question all the unanswered questions. I personally believe that there's intelligent life out there - and that's exactly why it's choosing not to reveal itself to us outright. Some say Niburu is coming, others say that Planet X is nothing more than bad astronomy. Have YOU ever had a close encounter of the weird kind?...

Suing the Saudis

Suing the Saudis 09/11/2004 03:49 AM
Suing the Saudis The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has decided to join a $7 billion lawsuit that was filed last week by bond brokerage firm Cantor Fitzgerald, which lost 658 of its employees--two thirds of the firm--in the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center, which was three years ago today. It looks like they may be gearing up to use RICO: "[The lawsuit said] Saudi Arabia engaged in a pattern of racketeering as it participated directly or indirectly in al Qaida's work through its "alter-ego" charities and relief organisations, which it funded and controlled." Al Qaida is named as a co-defendant, and four Saudis are mentioned by name: the interior minister, the defense minister, the governor of Riyadh, and the British ambassador, all members of the Saudi royal family.

Spammer Suing SpamCop

Spammer Suing SpamCop 04/30/2004 04:13 PM
A year ago, a group of spammers anonymously teamed up with a lawyer to sue a bunch of anti-spam groups. After those anti-spam groups fought back, the spammers eventually dropped their case. However, now we've got a similar situation. Scott Richter, the well known spammer behind OptInRealBig, is now suing IronPort, the folks who bought SpamCop last year. He's asking for $1 million in damages, saying that SpamCop has damaged his reputation. Has he given any thought to the idea that sending spam may have damaged his reputation? Among the many charges filed against SpamCop, Richter included Negligent Interference with Prospective Economic Advantage, Unfair Competition and Interference with Contractual Relationship.

I encountered my first XLERATOR in the men's room of my local pool hall the other night. For a moment I feared it would blow the flesh off my tender hands.
