Entropy PHP 5 package
Entropy PHP 5 package
08/06/2004 04:25 AM
Marc
Liyanage has released a package installer for PHP 5 on OS X.
Marc’s package (ahem) is a more ‘Mac-like’ installer
than the methods outlined in
other tutorials — i.e. a double-clickable
package.
The package installs PHP into
/usr/local/php5 and updates
the Apache config to reference the new version, whilst allowing you to
switch back to PHP 4 if you wish (by editing the Apache config).

results of an energy surplus, then, as the supply contracts, we could
be expected to start fighting once again like cats in a sack. In the
presence of entropy, virtue might be impossible."

Calculating Entropy for Data Miners
03/24/2005 07:39 PM
Quick--what's the relationship between the columns of your
database? Don't know? Maybe it's time to pull out the information
theory book and calculate how much data they store. Paul Meagher
explains how this works while showing off premade PHP libraries to
handle the details of the calculations for you.

Summary
The Internet is a place designed and destined to be host to the
exchange and sharing of information. All kinds of information - some
good, some bad. Since the September 11 attacks, we have seen the
emergence of two distinct mind-sets regarding tracking, publishing,
and sharing information.

Webl0g Changes
03/19/2003 10:28 PMI have decided to split my weblog in two. I basically have two
target audiences, those people who are reading this blog for Safari
news and updates, and those people who are visiting my personal blog
(i.e., friends and family).
This blog will remain the technically inclined one, and I'll
continue to blog about Safari news, Web topics, and so on. The
personal one (including all personal blog entries) has moved. I'm
still ironing out some kinks with Safari (links on the right-hand side
don't work), but if you care, you can find the personal blog here.

What is a webl0g?
What is a webl0g?
01/27/2004 02:23 AMWhenever we update the Sites Drawer (the list of feeds that comes with
NetNewsWire) I look at a bunch of feeds and their descriptions.
Here are some descriptions from the list, just to give you a
flavor:
Random Ramblings Regularly
Rants, raves, and random thoughts on life and American culture
Rants on spam, business, digital music, patents, and other assorted
random stuff.
random thoughts on games, art, geek culture and living in new york.
random and occassionally coherent musings
random musings and explorations from the mind of [withheld]
random thoughts and ramblings
The people have voted! If anyone ever asks you what a weblog is, you
can state, with confidence, that it’s
random rants,
ramblings, and musings.
It is also, on occasion, punditry. And good old-fashioned commentary
is not unheard-of.

direct result of having a weblog. Coworkers say things to me like "you

show up on your blog!" After introducing myself to a group of people
(say, before giving a 1.5 hour "introduction to MySQL" type of talk),

Chris Anderson How many people should I expect to host on a
512MB machine?
Mark Pilgrim's and my
blogs are hosted on the
same machine, and combined get
a fair amount of traffic. This currently is a 1Ghz AMD Duron
processor w/512MB.
CPU and memory usage was not a problem even when my blog was
dynamically generated via CGI for every request.
I'm very curious about your XML formats both for interchange and
persistence. Is this documented somewhere?
