SanDisk is showing off their new SD card with a built-in
USB plug. We showed another similar one recently and I have to say, I
think both designs are awesome. SanDisk's might be a little more
robust, but it does have a moving part, so who knows. Either way, it's
very slick—almost makes me wish everything I owned used SD.

05/24/2004 05:21 PMSanDisk continues to push combo envelope with 256 Mb and Wi-Fi in a
single SD card: These cards still remain supported only by Pocket PC
systems running Microsoft software, but it's a great technical
achievement. As we move into a time when it's likely that digital
cameras will offer driver-level support for Wi-Fi Compact Flash and
similar memory cards, SanDisk could be poised to deliver their combo
punch for that market. Some storage (at least temporary) coupled with
the ability to transmit images....

Upgrade on New Mobile Phones (Nokia

03/14/2005 06:10 PMATP Electronics Inc., a leading manufacturer of digital flash media
products, today announced that it is in mass production of high
capacity dual voltage RS-MMC (DV RS-MMC). The dual voltage (DV)
feature allows for compatibility with devices running on the
conventional 3.0V as well as with the dual voltage 3.0/1.8V devices.
The low voltage feature translates to much lower power consumption,
meaning longer battery life for both today and tomorrow’s mobile
digital devices. Card capacities of 128MB and 256MB are available
immediately, with 512MB available in March. [PRWEB Feb 20, 2005]

Card Export II Makes Treo 600 Plug and

07/08/2004 10:40 AM
TreoCentral gives a short,
but very positive preview of the latest version of Card Export II, a
bit of software that emulates the USB Mass Storage standard that, this
time around, lets your Treo 600 plug-and-play with your PC just like a
USB flash memory drive. What that means to you is that simply plugging
your Treo into any random machine will enable you to copy data back
and forth to the SD card without installing any drivers, greatly
easing the hassle of just trying to copy a few bits of data off a work
or friend's machine. Card Export II is $15 to purchase, but they do
have a free trial.
And for what it's worth, Card Export supports many different Palm
devices, not just Treos.

Review: WiFi Seeker / WiFi Spy
Review: WiFi Seeker / WiFi Spy
07/16/2004 04:50 PMA few weeks ago I got Chrisalis Developemnt's
WiFi Seeker, a convenient
keychain-sized wireless network locator. Marware's recently announced
WiFi Spy is a
rebranded version of the same device, so it should perform
identically.
To locate a wireless network simply press the button and watch the
LEDs. When the lights stop sweeping back and forth, the number that
remain lit will show the strength of the wireless signal. If the
lights continue to sweep back and forth, you're not in range for any
wireless network. Unlike other devices, the WiFi Seeker isn't fooled
by other 2.5 GHz signals like microwave ovens or cordless phones, and
it doesn't depend on 802.11 client activity to detect the access
point. It detects both 802.11b and 802.11g.
