Online PHP Editor Contest - Part 2
05/26/2004 02:38 AMA few months back PHP-Editors.com ran a contest called 'Online
PHP Editor'. After looking through all the code submitted it was
clear that the contest had started a group of new open source
projects.
The twist in this contest is that client-side script is highly
desirable for real time functionality, for example 'code
completion or debugging'. As always PHP is the only server-side
script allowed.

07/07/2004 04:07 PMHow many of you recognize those 4 letters? I do and understand when
I stick a CD into my computer and have my music player of choice
catalog the CD that my music player goes out to the CDDB database and
pulls in all of the info that I would otherwise have to type myself.
Album Graphics, Title, Song titles and a lot more information. Who is
the savior that came up with this technology. Well a Wired article
today takes a look at Gracenote the company behind CDDB. [Wired

04/14/2005 10:09 AM"Many mainstream media blogs serve as repositories for the
journalistic detritus that wasn’t good enough for the print edition.
Hemmed in by tradition, they lack the candor and point of view that
distinguishes good blogs. Bereft of good material, they lack the depth
and quality of print journalism."

Government Information Online (GIO)
03/29/2005 07:22 AMGovernment Information Online (GIO)http://govtinfo.org/Government Information Online (GIO) is a national pilot project that
will establish a viable model for online cooperative virtual reference
and information service that specializes in answering questions about
government information. Libraries contributing their time and
expertise to the project (
over thirty
institutions across the United States) represent public libraries,
academic institutions, as well as state library and archive
departments. All the project's participants are official depository
libraries who participate in the U.S. Government Printing Office's
Federal Depository Library program, and many are also official
depository libraries for their respective state governments. The
project's participants share the belief that government information is
a core source of reliable knowledge that enhances the lives of our
patrons. Further, with a growing share of government information
available in an electronic formats and on the web, the project will
further enhance the search capabilities of professional librarians.

O*NET Online - Occupational Information
Network
http://online.onetcenter.org/
O*NET, the Occupational Information Network, is a
comprehensive database of worker attributes and job characteristics.
As the replacement for the Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT),
O*NET will be the nation's primary source of occupational information.
O*NET is being developed as a timely, easy-to-use resource that
supports public and private sector efforts to identify and develop the
skills of the American workforce. It provides a common language for
defining and describing occupations. Its flexible design also captures
rapidly changing job requirements. In addition, O*NET moves
occupational information into the technological age. As the basis for
enhanced product development, the O*NET database can serve as the
engine that drives value-added applications designed around core
information. It provides the essential foundation for facilitating
career counseling, education, employment, and training activities. The
database contains information about knowledges, skills, abilities
(KSA), interests, general work activities (GWA), and work context.
O*NET data and structure will also link related occupational,
educational, and labor market information databases to the system.
This will be added to
