Generally speaking, I like saving the cool stuff for Lockergnome's channels, but I found a couple of nifty tools today that I just couldn't wait to share with the world. First, a Command Prompt Explorer Bar (via Julien Cheyssial). Second, PhotoFiltre - one of the best free image editors I've ever found (courtesy of alt.comp.freeware). If it weren't for RSS, I wouldn't have discovered either one of 'em. Jason suggested that we start running a top ten "new feeds" list in our newsletters, so expect to see the first one next week. Oh yeah, I also learned about Peter Hirschberg's classics through my news aggregator. Still think I'm crazy? Good....

ToastProphet Games is up and running offering a dozen or so old school retro 2D games for Macintosh, from stuff like homicidal OompaLoompas to Demonic Traffic Cones, there's a bunch of very odd quirky stuff, most comparable to EpicBanana's style of game programming. The games have their bugs but hopefully are entertaining and good for wasting a small bit of time. More advanced games are planned for release soon.

Screenshot YAFPC (Yet Another Free PDF-composer) can compose PDF documents from picture files and other PDF files, encrypt the created document, and send it to a given email address. YAFPC is designed to act as a command-line tool that combines with GhostScript to provide a network shared PDF printer which automatically adds letterheads, company-logos, watermarks, and Terms & Condition- pages to the printed documents, and then mails the document to the user who initiated the print job. It has a graphical user interface (GUI) for easy configuration and testing. Easy-to-use sample scripts for setting up a PDF-printer on Windows or Linux servers are included.
Changes:
This version fixes a bug where "Encrypt Output" only was working in testmode using the GUI for configuration when encryption was diasabled.

I am a very bid advocate of freeware and shareware. Thousands of very small companies 1-5 employees create a large percentage of the software released worldwide. Most of it as shareware but some programs are fortunately released as freeware. Please visit Webgrid they have a very large Freeware library. [Webgrid]

If you open your computer to the outside world, you're vulnerable to attack -- period. Port-scanning software tests your network to determine which TCP ports are vulnerable to attack.
