For all of you on virus watch, the Sasser .D worm is out in the wild. Microsoft is working overtime to stem the damage. And earlier this week, the Redmondians said to expect the beta of the next version of Office Live Communications Server 2005, code-named "Vienna," in June or July. The final is planned for the fourth quarter of this year.

Coming Soon - WinHEC 2005

Coming Soon - WinHEC 2005 04/12/2005 11:32 PM
On April 25th-27th Microsoft will deliver its anual event for developers of hardware for Windows-based computers. With over 100 hours of technical conferences the event promises to be an interesting one.

Microsoft are expected to announce the general availability of Windows XP Professional x64 Edition and Windows Server 2003 x64 Editions at WinHEC this year.

Neowin will be on hand to provide the latest information on Windows x64 and Windows Codename Longhorn. Microsoft will be releasing a new build of Longhorn at the event and we're aiming to blog hourly from the event on the latest developments surrounding Longhorn and future media technologies.

We will be speaking to companies like AMD, Intel, Nvidia and ATi about their plans for Longhorn and x64 and we're currently asking members to pose their own questions for AMD.

Keep an eye on the Neowin WinHEC 2005 blog ready for the 25th April.

A WinHEC Whirlwind Tour

A WinHEC Whirlwind Tour 05/06/2004 11:50 AM
WinHEC doesn't end until Friday, and there's still a long way to go until we sleep. Check out the latest on Microsoft's 64-bit plans and Microsoft's not-so-hidden message that it's 64-bit or bust for Windows going forward. And there's lots more.

Updated Longhorn WinHEC SDK

Updated Longhorn WinHEC SDK 06/07/2004 11:41 PM
The code samples, which demonstrate how to use many of the new "Longhorn" technologies, are provided in Visual Basic, C#, and the Managed Extensions for C++. You can locate and view samples, organized by technology, by choosing the Samples tab in the documentation viewer. For each sample, you can view the source file, read a topic describing the sample, and copy the sample to your local hard drive to build and run the sample. You can build the Visual Basic and C# samples using the commmand line compilers included in "Longhorn" or you can use the PDC edition of the "Whidbey" release of Microsoft Visual Studio® .NET. To compile and run the C++ samples, you must use the PDC edition of the "Whidbey" release of Visual Studio .NET. Samples that ship in the .NET Framework SDK are not included in this release of the "Longhorn" SDK. However, they are available in the "Whidbey" release of Visual Studio .NET.
