Holy cats! Rarely, if
ever, do we see something that we can say, unequivocally, is a "good
idea." This Radeon X800 card from MSI has two connectors, a standard
AGP side and a PCI Express side. I know what you're saying—just
get a new mobo and stop with the whining. But imagine if you will, a
scenario where someone with not much cash wants to get a better
graphics card for an already more than acceptable PC but wants to
future-proof things down the line. Viola!

I don't know why
it is, exactly, that people feel they must concoct some convoluted and
unlikely story every time they send in pictures of pre-release items.
I mean, I'm fairly sure I've seen these shots before, right here on
Gizmodo even, so adding that these were sent to you by your bestest
friend who works as an engineer in Cupertino doesn't lend any veracity
to these pics, which are interesting enough without all the bullshit.
Anyway, I'm going to go with my gut and say these are probably the
real deal--but bear in mind I have nothing to base that on except my
unflagging, infallible tech future intuition.

What would make Apple announce a upgraded Xserve
G5 just a week before MacWorld? Could it be that they're so crammed
full of new product announcements that they're actually pushing stuff
out early? Wishful thinking, perhaps, and idle besides—this
2.3GHz Dual G5 rackmounted machine is a beaut. Why can't all my
machines be rackmounted, huh? If I didn't play videogames, I could
ditch these goofy square machines forever.
Slightly more plebian, though, is news that Apple has dropped the
price of the Cinema Displays, starting with the 20-inch model for
$1,000, up to the 30-inch for three large. (Thanks,
Lawrence!)

contain just cables, or a Gefen DVI Repeater, a signal regenerating
box that sits between two DVI cables, or a Gefen DVI-1000 HD Extender,
which uses sender and receiver boxes to manage the length. Prices
range from US$217 to $4,065.
