06/07/2004 11:41 PMThe code samples, which demonstrate how to use many of the new
"Longhorn" technologies, are provided in Visual Basic, C#, and the
Managed Extensions for C++. You can locate and view samples, organized
by technology, by choosing the Samples tab in the documentation
viewer. For each sample, you can view the source file, read a topic
describing the sample, and copy the sample to your local hard drive to
build and run the sample. You can build the Visual Basic and C#
samples using the commmand line compilers included in "Longhorn" or
you can use the PDC edition of the "Whidbey" release of Microsoft
Visual Studio® .NET. To compile and run the C++ samples, you must use
the PDC edition of the "Whidbey" release of Visual Studio .NET.
Samples that ship in the .NET Framework SDK are not included in this
release of the "Longhorn" SDK. However, they are available in the
"Whidbey" release of Visual Studio .NET.

04/12/2005 11:32 PMOn April 25th-27th Microsoft will deliver its anual event for
developers of hardware for Windows-based computers. With over 100
hours of technical conferences the event promises to be an interesting
one.
Microsoft are expected to announce the general availability of Windows
XP Professional x64 Edition and Windows Server 2003 x64 Editions at
WinHEC this year.
Neowin will be on hand to provide the latest information on Windows
x64 and Windows Codename Longhorn. Microsoft will be releasing a new
build of Longhorn at the event and we're aiming to blog hourly from
the event on the latest developments surrounding Longhorn and future
media technologies.
We will be speaking to companies like AMD, Intel, Nvidia and ATi about
their plans for Longhorn and x64 and we're currently asking members to
pose their own questions for AMD.

04/22/2004 12:04 PMIn its ongoing campaign to keep Longhorn front of mind for developers,
Microsoft at its WinHec conference next month will release a
"refreshed" version of the pre-beta code it handed out at its
Professional Developers Conference (PDC) last October.
No word yet on exactly what improvements the company will make to this
version, which will only be handed out to conference attendees. The
first pre-beta release, also only given out to show attendees, was
meant to give programmers their first look at the products and
something they could start to build applications against.
