You Software has released an update to its file synchronization tool You Synchronize. Version 2.1, which is a free upgrade for current users, adds the ability to sync your Mac to an iDisk, improves support for synchronizing to remote and removable volumes, as well as external storage devices, and offers bug fixes and speed enhancements. New users can expect to pay US$39.95, with a $10 mail-in rebate available until July 31. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2.6 or higher, 10MB free hard drive space and a .Mac subscription if you want to sync your computer to an iDisk.

Starting in December of this year, Apple will limit support for iDisk in OS 9. As of December 2, OS 9 users will be able to download, but not upload, files on iDisk servers. By January 20, 2004, Apple will completely disable iDisk access from OS 9 users. The reason for the move is that iDisk is being converted to the WebDAV protocol, which is not supported natively by OS 9. Apple recommends that users of OS 9 migrate to OS X if possible, or start using third party software called Goliath...
