The company surveyed 500 senior-level business executives, allowing them more than one choice per category, and found that Apple Computer Inc. was named by 35 percent of them as the most innovative company, followed closely by Microsoft at 32 percent and Pixar at 31 percent. Report: Kyrgyzstan government hijacking
news websites
03/24/2005 12:05 AM
Xeni Jardin: Boing Boing reader and journalist Hans Henrik in Denmark says,
I published a disturbing story on my blog today about the ongoing online war between the government and the opposition in Kyrgy zstan.

Apparently the new government in Kyrgyzstan are hijacking opposition newspapers sites and are now pointing their URLs to government friendly news sites.

It is still a mystery what is going on in Kyrgyzstan. The newspapers in the country are nearly all government controlled or friendly towards the government in such a way that they can not be trusted when covering the ongoing dispute between the opposition and the newly elected government.

The situation gets more blurred by the lack of foreign correspondents and public access to the Internet in Kyrgyzstan. This means no bloggers or eyewitness.

Government Comes Out With Cyberspace
Study -- Seven Years Late

Government Comes Out With Cyberspace
Study -- Seven Years Late
03/31/2005 04:50 PM
People have said, in the past, that internet years are like dog years. Things change so fast that a single year feels more like seven years in a non-internet business. Perhaps the government works on the reverse. Seven years real time is more like one year of operating time. That might explain why the Commerce Department has just now released their "Signposts in Cyberspace" study that they were told to put out in 1998 as part of the Next Generation Internet Research Act. The findings, as you might imagine, seem a bit... out of date. Nothing too ridiculous, but certainly nothing particularly new. And, some of the recommendations, like increasing the number of top level domains available, started happening a few years ago already.
