targets one of those companies
claiming to offer "bulletproof" spam hosting via servers in China.
Apparently, we'll find out if bulletproof also means lawsuit proof.
If Microsoft can get this company taken offline, expect to see many
more similar lawsuits targeting these companies.

to step up its challenge to Microsoft's Office dominance with the

company plans to launch the product at the Demo conference in
Scottsdale, Arizona, next month. Evermore Integrated Office (EIOffice)
combines the components of traditional productivity suites into one
application. Users launch EIOffice, not a word processor, then a
spreadsheet application, then a presentation tool. Documents are
stored in a single file format and the application, written in Java,
runs on any operating systems that supports Java, including Windows

Chinese company makes soy sauce from
human hair
05/26/2004 07:46 PMA resourceful Chinese company got in trouble for brewing soy sauce out
of human hair.
China Central Television (CCTV), the state television
station, first raised public worries over the quality of domestic soy
sauce by uncovering a substandard workshop in central China's Hubei
Province, where piles of waste human hair were found. The hairs were
treated in special containers to distill amino acid, the most common
substance contained in soybean sauce. Human hair is rich in protein
content, just like soybean, wheat and bran, the conventional and
legally accepted raw ingredients for the production of soy
sauce.

SlimDVDup makes CD, DVD duplication
portable
09/09/2004 02:31 PMILY Enterprise Inc. announced on Thursday that it will begin shipping
its portable CD/DVD duplicator, dubbed
SlimDVDup (US$699), in
early October. The device, which measures 6 x 7 x 1.5 inches, can copy
discs with or without a computer -- it plugs into a USB 2.0 port for
the former. It can read data, video or audio and make an identical
copy on CD-R/RW, DVD+/-R/RW or DVD-RAM media. ILY noted, however, that
the SlimDVDup can't bypass copy protection, including the CSS
encryption found on commercial DVDs. In addition, it can edit precise
tracks for custom audio CD creation. The device also features
quick-erase, full-erase and program/repeat modes as well as an audio
stereo jack and digital volume control for playing back audio tracks.
Mac OS X v10.1.2 is required.

Advice for CD Duplication
Don't Be Duped - Helpful Hints and
Advice for CD Duplication
04/06/2005 02:53 AMCD duplication is no longer a difficult, tedious or expensive process
requiring exacting technological expertise. Since most desktop
computers now come equipped with a standard drive with the capacity to
burn discs, it is no longer a rarity to find people making "mix discs"
of their favorite songs using the CD-R media. And it is likely, at
some point, that you are going to want to make multiple copies of one
of your projects--be it a work presentation, a business card, or a
demo of some sort. What is the difference between replication and
duplication, and how do you determine the most economical method?
That's why http://www.CDDuplicationDesk.com was created--to assist you
in finding answers to your duplicator questions. [PRWEB Apr 6, 2005]

Discribe Alive: mass duplication of live
event discs
07/08/2004 09:09 AMCharismac Engineering Inc. has released
Discribe Alive, a solution
designed to mass duplicate and distribute CDs and DVDs of live
performances. The system comes with the company's Discribe Alive
Master software running on a PowerBook, which masters the audio and/or
video recording and communicates through a custom-configured wireless
router with the included G4 Xserve via an installed AirPort Extreme
card. The Xserve monitors the two custom-built Discribe Alive Target
Robot CD/DVD duplicators that burn discs at the rate of over 200 per
hour, depending on the amount of content placed on each disc. The
Xserve, the wireless router and the duplicators reside inside a
shock-mounted rack case that can be closed up and transported to the
next venue at the end of the day.

keeps me from copying and pasting unless I go look up a crack,
something I can't be bothered doing. Pretty regrettable -- and
