Portability: Keep Your Cell Number When
You Switch, But What Happens to the Old
Phone?
05/31/2004 02:00 PM"Number portability" began in November for parts of the country, but
on Monday it will be available throughout the nation. Millions of
cellular phone users are about to discover that when they switch
companies they can keep their number, but a new phone will be
required. One company offers consumers an easy way to get rid of old
cell phones and get paid cash for doing it. [PRWEB May 21, 2004]

« An 8 week old Saint Bernard puppy gets his 15 seconds of fame.
»
In a follow-up to the recent popular feature on an archive of
Estonian commercials from the 80s, the Sanomat had an article
on Sunday about a similar site filled with Hungarian commercials which are
completely incomprehensible in spite of Hungarian being linguistically
close to Finnish. Number 42 features two adorable Saint Bernard
puppies and though I've no idea what the commercial is pitching, the
little furry babies are understandable in any language. :)

Live On Stage! continues to get better and better, and I'm
running out of ways to blog about how much fun I had on the stage, and
how much the audience enjoyed the show . . . so I'm not even going to
try this week. I'll just settle on: IT WAS AWESOME. If you're
anywhere near Hollywood on a night that we're doing the show,
you simply must come out and see us.
Tonight, my friend Drew Curtis (who is responsible for Fark) and I will be in studio together
on The David Lawrence
Show from 8pm until 10pm PST. We'll take phone calls and instant
messages, and I can't wait to see what happens when the worlds of Fark
and WWdN collide on the radio. It's going to be supermegaawesome.
There are several different listening options at the show's
website.

(pronounced Air-Dersh) was the most prolific mathematician of all
time. He wrote almost 1500 papers with many others, leading to the
creation of the
Erdös
number, connecting mathematicians to each other by way of their
co-authored papers. Even
a horse
has an Erdös number of 3. He also had his
own language - if a person
had "left", they had died, but if they had "died",
they had stopped doing mathematics.

12/19/2004 03:48 PMI just got back from the True Dungeon at SoCal Gencon.
Wow. What a great time! I played a Bard, and all that Improv
training I've had over the years paid off . . . I got to make up a few
songs, gave my party +3 in a battle, stopped us from letting something
Very Bad happen . . . and got killed when the giant spider hit me for
6, and then for 14. Ah, the joys of being third level with no
armor.
I'm going to write about the whole thing for my column in Dungeon,
but I will say this now: if you ever get a chance to do a True
Dungeon, go for it. It's a blast. They're in Anaheim through the
weekend.
