Most people are not aware of the fact that Perl has support for object-oriented programming. If you've used another object-oriented programming language such as Java or C++ or been exposed to object-orientation then object oriented programming in Perl is nothing like that. To do real useful object-oriented programming in Perl you only need to use three simple rules as put forth by Larry Wall in Object Oriented Perl.

Grouper, a different form of P2P.
"The Grouper program does not allow file sharing of music, only streaming. However, you may share other types of files as a download. On the plus side for the persons sharing, Grouper allows the formation of mini networks with email verification. The advantage of this is no script kiddies or annoying fake files from the RIAA." You are sharing privately between friends.
Welc ome to the world of legal online music ambiguity. Say hello to Grouper.

AW_07_26_2004_414.jpg imageI give our fighting forces a hard time, sometimes, but it's not because I think they are all babykiller jugheads (which is too bad, because I hate babies). In fact, one of the worst things I can think of is fighting for your country and taking a bullet or worse, then lying in a combat zone bleeding to death because it's too dangerous to send in a medic. Well, thankfully, the Pentagon -- who has never found a problem they couldn't shoot a missile at -- has developed an 32-inch long Quick-MEDS projectile that can be fired by an unmanned flying drone at wounded soldiers without jeopardizing unwounded troops; the projectile is filled with blood, bandages, oxygen, burn packs, vaccines, and bio-chem antidotes -- a medical missile.

Building with wood is eco-friendly?

Building with wood is eco-friendly? 09/22/2004 08:30 AM
David Pescovitz: A new research report shows that wood is one of the greener materials that can be used to build homes. According to the report, prepared by the Consortium for Research on Renewable Industrial Materials, the environmental impact of fabricating building materials and actually constructing a home is more intense than most people realize. And while the industry has slowly moved away from wood, the use of dead trees may actually be better (well, less bad) than other products and techniques. From a press release about the report:
The research showed that wood framing used 17 percent less energy than steel construction for a typical house built in Minnesota, and 16 percent less energy than a house using concrete construction in Atlanta. And in these two examples, the use of wood had 26-31 percent less global warming potential...The growth of wood in renewable forests works to "sequester" and remove carbon from the atmosphere, and fewer carbon emissions are created in the processing needed to produce wood products than their steel and concrete counterparts.
