Google Taste Test
05/25/2004 02:49 PMBased on a few tasks, a survey
found that Google's search results are no better than its
competitors. This isn't that surprising -- the differences
between search engines
should narrow as searching technology
matures. The issue really is how loyal users are to a particular
search engine and why. For example, Google's user interface might be
arguably better, even if its search results are similar to its
competitors. And
Google's
expansion of services suggests that they realize searching isn't
the beginning and end of their business.

06/05/2005 11:19 PMIt's funny to see that even Google fails the Acid2 test. The excerpt

the fallback content of the object elements. But the second ERROR is a
bug in parsing of comments. Safari had the same bug.

12/03/2003 08:38 AMMy nephew registered a domain name for his Sensei about a year ago. My
nephew's name does not appear anywhere on his Sensei's very minimal,
single-digit-trafficked site. My nephew got junk mail (of the paper
sort) from Google addressed to him at his Sensei's address. My nephew
is quite confident that there's only one place on the planet where his
name appears linked to his Sensei's address: in the domain
registration. So, is Google snail-spamming everyone in the US address
who owns a domain name? I know I got mine....

cle.com/free/2004/04/2004040901n.htmGoogle, the
popular search engine, has teamed up with the Massachusetts Institute
of Technology and 16 other universities around the world to provide a
way to search the institutions' collections of scholarly papers,
according to university officials. A pilot test of the project is just
getting under way. If all goes as planned, the search feature could
appear on Google in a few months, said MacKenzie Smith, associate
director of technology for MIT's libraries. She said the search would
probably be an option on Google's
advanced-search
page. This has been added to
