Changes in Store As Google's IPO Nears
(AP)

AP - Google Inc.'s looming initial public stock offering is stirring tremendous excitement, but it shouldn't be surprising if its biggest beneficiaries have some reservations. Some sobering changes are in store at the company, whose breathtaking rise has had a distinctly funhouse flavor.

iTunes Music Store nears UK launch

iTunes Music Store nears UK launch 06/07/2004 12:24 PM
The Register sp eculates that Apple may be ready to launch their iTunes Music Store on June 15th. Invites have been sent out to national newspapers to expect an ‘major’ announcement on that day. Apple’s WWDC is on 28 June. Mac OS X 10.4 (“Tiger”) will be previewed (and perhaps new hardware?), so it seems unlikely that the 15 June announcement centres on Apple’s computing technology. The German version of iTMS is also expected to launch on this date (no doubt with the complete David Hasselhoff back catalogue), adding to the expectation.

apple_osaka.jpg imageImpress Watch took advantage of Apple's offer to members of the press for a sneak preview of the Shinsaibashi store (in Osaka, Japan), and brought back images that remind me of... the Apple store in the mall. Not that it's an entirely bad thing - the mall stores are pretty swanky.

While we're on the topic of things not being bad, Apple's market in Japan certainly isn't either. This two story, 500 square meter Osaka store is the second Apple store in the country. Though the first floor appears to be your common Apple store, a glass staircase will take you to the second floor that features a bar and 25-person seminar room. The store will open to the public on the 28th, so I'm expecting a bunch of people to bum rush the place and help Apple pay for that much square footage in downtown Osaka.

While we're on the subject of Apple stores, the company also announced a third Apple store in Japan at the press event: Nagoya, to open early next year.
