ADHOC 2005 Speakers: Hubbard,
Doctorow, Ihnatko -- I'm once again planning to speak at
ADHOC 2005 (previously known as MacHack), but my interest in attending
just went up even more upon learning that the ADHOC committee has
lined up some great people to speak at the three midnight sessions,
including Jordan Hubbard, Apple's manager of the Darwin core of Mac OS
X, and Cory Doctorow, science fiction author, blogger, and European
Affairs Coordinator for the EFF. The final midnight session is the
ADHOC Showcase programming competition, which will be hosted by the
ever-amusing and effervescent Andy Ihnatko. If you're interested in
learning more about programming from some of the best developers in
the business and hearing from some fascinating speakers, the early
registration deadline is 15-Apr-05. Hope to see you in Dearborn,
Michigan from 26-Jul-05 through 31-Jul-05, and if you need a better
sense of the conference, read my article about last year's event.

I've been at the ADHOC Conference, formerly known as MacHack, since
Wednesday.
Although the conference had fewer attendees than previous years, it's
still the same conference and all of this year's sessions were Mac
related. We had as many high quality sessions as previous MacHacks,
plus cocoa training from Big Nerd Ranch. We also had a great keynote by
David Pogue. I've posted a picture album here.

04/17/2005 06:52 PMHere's one for my foodie French-speaking
soon-to-be-or-already-are-in-France friends: Les 100 meilleurs

Paris, see the sidebar for those outside the Île-de-France. For
the non-French speakers out there, it's a list of "The 100 best 30
€ and under bistros."
I've been to two on the Paris list so far this visit: L'Ami Marcel
(which was mentioned in the April 2005 Gourmet article "The Bistro
Boom"); and L'Epi Dupin. Both were very good and I'd recommend either
for a lovely meal. And see, if I were less lazy, I would have written
posts about eating there! As penance, if my dinning companions post
about the meals, I promise to make the appropriate links.
