Abdul-Jabbar's Long Road Back to the
N.B.A.

Why has Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who was hired as a Knicks scout last month, had only minimal involvement in the N.B.A. since he began lobbying for a return in 1995?

Norwegians might want to use a reality check before trusting directions from Microsoft’s online MapPoint service. A bug in Microsoft’s MapPoint software sends those looking to travel between two Norwegian cities on a trip across much of Western Europe. The suggested quickest route between Haugesund and Trondheim is a 1,685-mile journey through Belgium, England, France, Germany and Sweden to make the journey. With two trips across the ocean and a fair bit of overland travel,…

I'm Back and on the road again

I'm Back and on the road again 08/01/2004 03:21 PM

As you all noticed it was a very light posting week. Quite honestly I needed a break and being back on the job has me coming home completely exhausted. It is hard to believe that my spine injury has had such a dramatic effect on my life, and I suppose I am at odd's with the doctor when he tells me it is going to take 6 months to fully recover. I am back in the Geek Saddle and will be firing away my brainy entries starting now. On another note I fly out to Dallas tonight and will be there for a couple of days then off to Chicago for three days and finally to Maine (a first) for some meetings and will return to Hawaii on the 13th. If you live in Dallas, Chicago, Portland Maine and want to get together drop me a line.

We'll miss you Ray

Ray Charles is dead. His music is timeless, unlike most of the forgettable music of the 80s, 90s and today. Of the few things that might make me feel proud of the country I have disowned, Ray Charles and his music are at the top of the list. I'm sure even the aliens who find the Voyager probe message and listen to his music on the disc will enjoy it. He may be gone, but hopefully we'll always have his music. So long Ray, and thanks for making the world a better place just by having had you in it.
