Portable Hard Drive

Neowin Review : Seagate 100Gb USB 2.0
Portable Hard Drive
03/14/2005 06:26 PM
Harddrives : a critical part of any personal computer. They store our personal data, files, operating systems and much more. Over the last decade, the industry has gone through some major changes both in terms of the hardware and the companies involved.

Seagate is one of an increasingly small number of harddrive vendors to stick through tough times and keep on producing good gear. Founded in 1979, the company stayed at the forefront of the industry making the first 5.25" harddrive, the first 7,200 RPM diskdrive, and the first fiber channel interface disk drive.

Today, we're looking at a portable harddrive from Seagate. It's basically a small (2.5") harddrive packed inside a strong shell with a high speed, USB 2 adaptor on rear; it's also got a bright blue LED light for good measure. Seagate offer two version of the drive; a 40gig version and a 100gig version - we looked at the 100gig version. Read on the review!

Laptop
06/04/2004 12:34 PM

Word has it that Toshiba is planning on putting a TV tuner into one of their laptops, to which I can only really say: it's about time. It's always been painful to have this sharp, crystalline displays go to waste when it could, for a few dollars more in tuner chips, be working just fine as a TV. I know there are lots of ways you could add the functionality now, through either software or hardware solutions, but it just seems like such a no-brainer I'm surprised more companies aren't doing it.

I mean, it would be like Apple not putting high-quality line-in recording into the iPod, even though the hardware could support it. Oh wait...
