Adobe's Chizen: Mac business has stayed
strong
04/22/2004 02:55 PM

In an interview with PC Magazine Editor-in-Chief Michael Miller, Adobe CEO Bruce Chizen offered some insight about his company's continued support of the Macintosh market. Chizen said that Adobe gets about a quarter of its revenue from mac users. While he admits that in some cases it hasn't made sense for Adobe to compete against Apple, Chizen also recognizes Mac user loyalty and said that Adobe's Mac business "has stayed relatively strong."

Today is aviation's 100th birthday. At 10:35am Eastern, the Experimental Aircraft Association will attempt to re-enact the first flight of the Wright Brothers' "mar ginal" aircraft. (It's apparently very difficult to fly -- for one thing, the pilot must keep the airspeed between 27 and 32 mph, using an engine without a throttle.) Wish I could be there in NC at the Wright Brothers National Memorial. It's utterly astounding that only 66 years -- less than a lifetime -- elapsed between Orville Wright's twelve-second, 120-foot flight and the Apollo 11 moon landing.

DrunkenBlog has an intriguing post about a local remote root exploit found for Adobe's Version Cue which ships with Adobe's Creative Suite of software. Version Cue is designed to help creative professionals find, share and track multiple versions of files and jobs in progress in a collaborative environment. The problem is, the system is insecure and "could permit a local malicious user to obtain root privileges on the target system". Beware the freelancer!! See: Bugtraq US-CERT

Reach More of the Right People Faster with Less Effort. Business is under pressure now more than ever to do more with less — bigger, better, cheaper, faster. But at what cost? At the cost of human relationships? It doesn't have to be. The internet offers powerful tools to help you find the right people, connect with them, build trust and rapport, and collaborate with them quickly and cost-effectively. This is a good guide with some fine resources. This has been added to my white paper Online Social Networking.
